Volunteering as an online advisor for immigrants

The task of online advisor for immigrants is a significant form of volunteering, offering support and guidance on digital platforms. The task is to respond to contact requests from immigrants and help them find solutions to everyday challenges, such as restoring family connections, access to services or issues related to asylum processes. Online advisors serve as part of a team of volunteers with support from immigrant work experts and comprehensive familiarisation.

The task combines responsibility and the opportunity to utilise individual skills. It is particularly suitable for persons over 23 years of age who have experience in dealing with immigrants or in the social welfare, healthcare or legal field, for example. The task requires a good command of English, while other language skills are an advantage.

Acting as an online advisor requires a commitment of at least one year and a monthly contribution of approximately four hours.

How can I become a volunteer online advisor for immigrants?

The task requires 12 hours of familiarisation training on Teams in English, as well as an opportunity to participate in further training and practice shifts. We train new volunteers once a year.
