Fixing sleep patterns supports daily life

We help establish a daily schedule and routines that support daily life and sleep.

In the support for fixing sleep patterns, we will help you take a better hold of your daily schedule and everyday life. You may need to fix your sleep patterns in situations such as the following:

  • when your circadian rhythm is in disarray, i.e. you sleep during the day and stay up at night
  • when your daily schedule hinders your studies, work and daily routines and causes stress and anxiety.

You can seek help if you are an adolescent, a young adult, a family member or other loved one of a young person, or a professional working with a young person.

You will receive help in fixing your sleep patterns from Youth Shelter workers who have experience in supporting adolescents, young adults and families. Youth Shelter volunteers will also help you with this process.

The support for fixing your sleep patterns is available free of charge at each Youth Shelter every day of the year.

What does fixing sleep patterns entail?

Fixing your sleep patterns will help restore your daily schedule and improve your quality of life. The aim of fixing your sleep patterns is:
to help you develop healthy and beneficial sleep routines
to support your wellbeing and everyday life management
to strengthen your ability to cope with daily challenges and everyday life.

The work to fix your sleep patterns starts with an initial visit, during which we will set joint goals to ensure the success of the support. During this work, you can sleep at the Youth Shelter or at home. You can also receive support for fixing your sleep patterns remotely via Nettiturvis.

If you stay overnight at the Youth Shelter as part of the work, you will first have an opportunity to get to know us and meet the workers. If you are under the age of 18, we will also agree on the accommodation with your guardians.

In the support for fixing your sleep patterns, we will learn healthy and beneficial sleep routines in accordance with your needs and motivation: if you sleep at the Youth Shelter, we can agree on limitations related to your phone use and use of other devices, for instance. You will work to identify the reasons for your poor sleep patterns and find means to rectify the situation at regular meetings with a worker.

You will also receive support for your regular daily schedule from the volunteers working in accommodation at the Youth Shelter. They will provide you with discussion support and warm meals, for example.

In the support for fixing your sleep patterns, we will also cooperate with your family, other loved ones and educational institution in order to find functional ways to support your schedule. Everyone plays an important role in ensuring the success of this process.

How to get help

Support for fixing your sleep patterns is available every day of the year. The shelters offering support for fixing your sleep patterns are located in five different municipalities: Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Turku and Tampere. However, we also assist residents of other municipalities. We also help remotely on Nettiturvis (site only in Finnish).

We respond to contact requests every day, including in the evenings and at weekends. You can also contact us if you are a family member or other loved one of a young person, or a professional working with a young person.

When you first contact us, we will discuss how we can best help you. Contacting us does not bind you to anything. You can contact us by phone or via WhatsApp or e-mail. The contact information of the Youth Shelters is provided below.
