In Ukraine, more than 14.6 million people, or about 40% of the country's population, are in need of humanitarian assistance. The escalating battles make daily life even harder for millions of people. The coming winter is predicted to be even harder than the last one.

Extensive power cuts hinder the supply of heat, electricity and water. To young children and the elderly even regular infectious diseases can be fateful. Especially the people living near the front lines are in sore need of help.

Increased cash aid will be distributed during the winter so that people in vulnerable positions can cope with the mandatory day-to-day expenses, such as rent, heating and food.

The Finnish Red Cross works in cooperation with the Ukrainian Red Cross and the International Red Cross organisation.

We have supported those affected by the conflict in Ukraine by sending aid workers, financial assistance, accommodation and medical supplies, a health clinic and mobile health units. We support shelter and accommodation providers with cash assistance.

The need for help remains enormous

People living in Ukraine will still need help years after the fighting one day ends.

Many have lost not only their homes and loved ones, but also their livelihoods. In particular, the needs for primary health care, physical and mental rehabilitation and livelihood will continue for a long time to come.

We will help for as long as help is needed

The Ukrainian Red Cross will be supported for as long as help is needed. Our support includes, among other things, training the volunteers, developing the social services and supporting the activities of the Ukrainian Red Cross.
