Field Communications Unit (FCU) is a team of 1-3 communications and audiovisual professionals that can be rapidly deployed for emergencies, disasters, and the needs of longer-term projects. It is based on a pool of staff trained on the Red Cross relief operations.

The unit, which has been operational since 2012, is unique within the international Red Cross and Red Crescent movement. Consisting of experienced professionals, the FCU produces high quality communication material, stills and videos from the field under tight deadlines and challenging conditions. We work in close collaboration with the movement partners.

Through the FCU, we also conduct trainings with our partners to strengthen local communications capacities.

To find out more about the unit’s productions in different parts of the world, see FCU’s Vimeo channel. For more information, please contact sini.anttila@redcross.fi.
